For When You Feel Too Much, or Nothing at All

Pragmatic, Holistic Therapy for Adults Who Are Done Running in Mud

In-person in Houston  ·  Available Online Throughout Texas

Your best isn't working anymore.

You feel trapped. At the end of your rope.

You're doing the best you can. But you're beginning to worry that your best isn't good enough. That maybe it never will be.

You've always tried to do the right thing for other people.

You're on top of your work. You honor your commitments. But things are beginning to slip.

You want off the ride.

You feel too much. Other times, nothing at all.

Some days, the struggle feels like total chaos. No center point, everything up in the air.

Other days, there’s only a deep dullness. No colors, only grays.

You’re trying to make it through. Drinking. Getting high. Prescription drugs. Or just doomscrolling.

Whatever you’re using to make the intolerable a little more tolerable, it isn’t working.

This isn’t what you hoped life would be.

**You’ve got to find better answers.**

I’ve got good news…

and bad news.

We change.

There’s no fighting it.

Who you are today isn't who you were a year ago, or ten years ago. And it's not who you'll be next year either.

The good news? You can change the quality of your life for the better. From the inside out, when you learn how.

The bad news? You can't do it without putting in work.

If you want to control the change and turn things around, it's going to take work from you. That's where I can help.

Let’s Talk
Richard Kuehn, LPC-S — Process Aligned Psychotherapy, Houston TX

LPC-S · Houston, TX · 20+ Years Clinical Practice

Hi, I’m Richard.

For more than 20 years, I’ve done this work in private practice and psychiatric hospitals. That range has taught me how to sit with both the highly responsible person who keeps life running and the person who feels close to coming apart.

Before becoming a therapist, my 20s and early 30s were spent working in higher education and at a New York investment bank in the marketing department, while writing plays and acting in the evenings.

I wasn’t a great actor. As I remember it, I was very loud, good at waving my hands, and probably a bit too energetic.

Psychology, philosophy, and religion always pulled at me. I knew early that when I hit my 30s, I wanted to become a psychotherapist.

Although I don’t take myself very seriously, I take my work very seriously. With every client, my job is to be the most helpful and prepared version of myself I can be.

Therapy is expensive and takes time, and I want you to feel it’s a very good investment.

I won't work harder than my clients, but I'll work as hard as you do.

That's my promise.

Live with More Intention and Purpose

My way of working is holistic and pragmatic.

I’ll help you relate to yourself and your experiences differently.

For more than 20 years, I’ve helped intelligent and responsible adults understand the patterns that keep them stuck and begin living with more clarity, steadiness, and intention.

My style is conversational and often enjoyable. I won’t just sit and listen, but I also won’t tell you what to do.

Together, we’ll identify the patterns, pressures, and old adaptations that keep you tied up inside.

Therapy gives us a place to understand those patterns, loosen their grip, and help you recover a greater sense of freedom, coherence, and direction.

What Does This Process Look Like?

That depends on you.

I know psychotherapy, neuroscience, and the work of helping people change.

But I am not the expert on you.

So we’ll build a plan around your specific psychological strengths and weaknesses.

Our first few meetings will look like this:

I want to know how the “problem” is showing up in your life, and where it isn’t.

Then I’ll want to hear the story of your life: the highs and lows you remember from childhood until today, what’s going right, and what matters most to you now.

Once I have a grip on those things, we’ll work together to decide the way forward.

The Goal Is Change

We’ll build a comfortable structure to do the uncomfortable work of meaningful therapy. In a way that is supportive and respectful.

At some point, we realize that our problems aren’t just what’s happening all around us. The problems are also rooted in how we’re managing everything from within.

Therapy is about getting your heart and soul working in a way that works for you. Not by forcing yourself to be different, but by learning to read what is happening inside you so you can respond to it more effectively.

When that starts to shift, things on the outside begin to change, too. Not all at once, but in a way that is real and lasting.

If that sounds good to you, then you’re in the right place.
